Don't get too excited - this automobile is a bit of a way off for us Yankees, but the idea of a BMW premium compact was too much for us to keep quiet about, even if there is a little wait to get our American hands on one.
Five doors on a sporty design, the BMW 1 Series is a comfortable, spacious compact that carves itself a distinctive niche within the segment. Like all BMWs, the 1 Series is built with premium quality components, provides high-performance handling and innovative styling and technology.
A four -cylinder in-line gas engine is the predominate power plant, but there is a host of diesel options to choose from, as well. All engines boast a BMW TwinTurbo technology package, complimented by a twin-scroll turbocharger, precision injection, VALVETRONIC and Double-VANOS variable valve control. Inside, a traditionally clean BMW layout awaits, with innovative accents and a fresh, youthful aesthetic. High quality materials abound, reflecting the model's premium specifications.

I love the design! BMW performance and 4-cylinder efficiency? Sign me up. Unmistakably BMW, but not my cup of tea. I like the rear-wheel drive, but not the 4 cylinders.
