However, leaving your house requires more than just getting packed and having proper directions. There are two important things that travelers forget to check when heading out on a holiday road trip.

First and foremost, travelers should make sure that their vehicle is appropriately maintained for the trip. Check out these great travel tips:

Make sure your tires are properly inflated and in good condition. More than 50% of drivers are riding on under-inflated tires.
Check (or have your dealer do this) all fluids, belts and hoses.
Load-test the battery.
Replace spark plug wires if they are more than two years old.
Replace wipers if worn out.
